There is something called cellulose pullover. You can use it with a soft cloth to give a high gloss to a finely cut-back surface.
Saves a lot of elbow grease. http://rydenor.co.uk/solvents-and-thinn ... e-pullover

What does the pull-over bit mean? Too lazy to google. Does it work by pulling a cloth over the surface with the product or something like that?

think I'm going get my 99 professionally painted. I know how to get a good finish but it's really hard work and I've no longer got a workshop, which is another good reason not to try and do it myself.

yep, good reason to lean how to do it. I think I'm at the point where I can get a pretty reasonable job done... just the amount of effort required does stop it being fun.

Seems alright. Does it look ok in the flesh?

Oh, btw... forgot to mention, you'll probably be ok, but you're not meant to put cellulose over factory paint. What can happen is a dried up lake bed effect after a while. Not sure what in particular makes that happen and it may be the case that if it is looked after then it won't happen.

This was the finish I had on my red 99 turbo. Someone had painted cellulose over the factory finish.
