My switch guide is achieving mythical status. Pity I left bits out.

Job done & very easy it was thanks to peva's guide , If you cable tie it up make sure that the tie head is at the bottom of the switch or remounting problems will occur . The worst bit for me was refitting the lower coloum shroud as some one has been there before so i had to mod it ..

What sort of paint job are you going for? Quick spruce up or major? I always liked the idea of having lots of clear-coat on a usable daily classic so it could be kept looking good and resistant to scratching.

Is there anything that i can put on the points (lube) that will make them last longer or do i have another prob ?..

Seems legit.

You can have problems with the motor as well.

Believe it or not, the Bosch motors don't actually have a bearing for pinion coming out of gearbox attached to the motor. Just a bushing made from some sort of non-ferrous metal. Suffice to say, even if your wiring is perfect you can still be trying to turn a motor which is really heavily loaded because the gearbox is providing much more resistance than originally designed.

Here's a close-up of the bushing. This one is damaged. If you can make sure the motor has a good bushing and that some grease has been rubbed into the surface of the metal of both parts then your motor is going to run with less resistance and your windows will almost bounce up and down.

The case for the motor gearbox is sealed with fasteners which can't be reused. Just hammered down studs. After you've used the grinder to remove the tops of those studs you'll have to find an alternative method for sealing the motor gearbox. I've used rivets, glue and screws in the past.

cellulose though... however it comes out, as long as it is thick enough you can cut it back and make it shine.
