Glad it's working for you. I never bothered with OBD. It's a bit simple and the check engine light gives you flash codes which are as useful when diagnosing problems.

The best thing from my point of view is having an engine bay full of special metals. Replacing all the fasteners with stainless / titanium / aluminium. Same with the tubing. Military spec wiring. Good heat shielding. These are the sorts of things which I like to see when the bonnet opens. :D

My current car has it... but I still ride about with the sunroof open.

The time you want air-conditioning is on the motorway on a hot day. You can't do motorway speeds with the windows open unless you're ok with the roaring wind noise for several hours.

I suspect my final version 900 would have air-conditioning.

All my Saabs have AirCon. Even the vert. Roof down on a hot day with cold air from the vent it's great.
AC is great for demisting the car in damp weather. Wouldn't be without it.

Best thing for demisting windows is to make sure they're clean! My old Saabs with no air-con could always clear the windows but I'd see if you left them to get dirty (on the inside) then misting up would be a much bigger problem. Smoking in the car gives a milky glaze over the inside of the windows and if it builds up it is quite hard to clean off.

The silver paint 'look' is quite a good one actually. Is it high-temp engine paint aerosol?

I used lots of the metallic black (which is actually grey)

But I also always wanted the red direct ignition cassette slotted into the black cam cover. That's my preferred look.

Also getting there with the engine for the 99, same theme.

yes, I do like the original look as well. Just got to maintain it. After a while the silver parts tarnish. But that's the same with most stuff under the bonnet. My eventual aim for the 99 is to fill the under bonnet area with special metals. Aluminium, titanium... that sort of thing.

Naa, I've got to learn. I always maintain I'm ok at welding but the equipment is bad. It's just a cheap Clarke mig welder. For stainless steel you really want tig. I think I joined the 3-inch pipe sections 7 years ago. So they've held up, just not pretty.

I have a tig welder but struggling to get around to getting a good fully charged gas bottle.

Crappy welding, particularly electric, is nearly always down to the operator. A really good, experienced operator can often get great results from crappy equipment. I personally would have used oxy on your manifold. :bye:
