This is the Saab 99 Quattro. It is a one-off built to look like a standard early Saab 99 from the outside. The interior has been kept fairly standard as well, with the standard dials and dashboard.
Under the skin the front end has been stripped down and replaced with a space frame (tubular construction), the transverse mounted 16v turbocharged engine from a Saab 900 has been mounted in a reversed configuration. The flywheel usually being at the front now points rearward. The transmission has been replaced with the Quattro transmission system from an early Audi Quattro comparable with some of the very high performance American V8 cars.
Output from the motor is in the region of 700hp and the car can cover the quarter mile in less than 10 seconds making it a very quick car.
One post per thread about a Saab. Each post a feature about a car.
